The film starts with Mitchie (Demi Lovato) returning to Camp Rock and meeting all her friends, plus even singing her newest song Brand New Day. Meanwhile, the trailer of Shane (Joe Jonas) and his brothers Jason (Kevin Jonas) and Nate (Nick Jonas) gets stuck, causing them to use a wagon to get to Camp Rock. Over there, they learn of Camp Star, a rival camp across the lake which invites them to a friendly bonfire.
After seeing Camp Star's performance, many members of Camp Rock leave and join Camp Star including Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin) , the former diva of Camp Rock. Nate falls in love with Dana (Chloe Bridges) , daughter of Camp Star's owner. Since most of Camp Rock's staff has left, Mitchie and the older campers take up the role of counselors and decide to challenge Camp Star to Camp Wars, a musical showdown being broadcasted on TV.
